A ‘View from the Bridge’ was written by the famous playwright Arthur Miller. We, Elder class, have begun the rehearsal process; the long journey of learning lines, rehearsing scenes, practising accents and fooling around has been initiated. We have two and half weeks to bring 64 pages of writing to a meaningful and visual performance.
Having a smaller cast than ‘Fiddler on the Roof’ or ‘Wizard of Oz’, a few members will not be performing, but will be working alongside the play, doing filming, lighting, set creation, directing etc. In the past, the quality of the filming equipment used has been decidedly pitiful. This time we are looking to put together a budget that will help us hire professional filming equipment and support us with costumes and sets.
Obviously, this will all need funding, so compared to normal performances where donations are accepted, we are planning on selling tickets in advance to school members and the general public. Anyone and everyone is invited. We hope this will give an opportunity for people interested in the school to meet it and experience it through the play.
Ticket sales will begin on the 1st of July, a week before the first production is unveiled. The play will run on the evening of the 8th and the 9th of July, exact time to still be announced.
We hope to see you there. In the meantime keep an eye on the running blog for some behind the scenes views and updates…
Exciting stuff! A challenge for you all, I look forward to it.
Thank you so much, from Elder class.
