Jamie is a gifted musician and his ambition was to make his own violin. Out of the blue, the school employed a new member of staff as a music and woodwork teacher, who happened to be a skilled luthier. Jamie was warned that to make a violin would take about 300 hours of work, but he was undaunted.
One of the most special moments for everyone in school was the first time that Jamie, having put new strings on his unvarnished and ‘not-quite-complete’ violin, placed a bow to them and played. A video clip of this moment is to follow.
